Basement remodeling · MetroWest, MA
A finished basement, checked before it’s closed in.
Most basement quotes start at the drywall. We check water, ceiling height and egress first, then put every item in writing, so your new room stays dry, passes inspection and feels like the rest of your house.
- 01As it is
We start with what’s there
Access, ceiling height, windows and any sign of water. A basement can look ready to finish and still need work first.
- 02Dry and framed
Insulation, framing, wiring
Foam on the foundation walls, new studs, circuits and ductwork, before anything gets closed in.
- 03Closed in
Walls and ceiling
Drywall, recessed lights and the column wrapped. The room starts to look like a room.
- 04Finished
Ready to live in
Floor, trim, paint, stairs and lights. Then we walk it with you and check it against the written scope.

The problem with most basement quotes
Most basement quotes start at the drywall.
Nobody looks at the water, the ceiling height or the way out until the walls are already up.
That’s how a new room ends up with mold behind fresh drywall, or a “bedroom” that can’t pass inspection, and you pay twice for the same space. A finished basement shouldn’t hide a problem. It should solve it.

Comparing quotes
Two basement quotes. Different totals.
Nobody wants to pay twice for the same room. Before choosing, compare what each quote actually includes.
Existing conditions
Does the scope include the work needed before framing and finishes? Who looks at those conditions?
What’s being built
Framing, insulation, drywall, floors, ceilings and built-ins: what’s included, and what isn’t?
Utilities and approvals
Electrical, heating, plumbing, egress and permits: who is responsible for what?
Changes and exclusions
What happens if conditions change? How are extra costs approved before the work is done?
The lowest total doesn’t tell you whether it’s the same project. Our written scope answers all four before you sign.
Before you hire anyone
Same budget. Very different project.
Picture it done: the space you wanted, matching your house, and a last day spent checking off your scope instead of chasing anyone.
Without a clear plan
- New walls over a damp foundation
- A total you can’t compare
- A “bedroom” without a legal way out
- A room you finish and never use
With LA Classic

- He reads your projectand makes the first call himself, to hear what the basement needs to do.
- He visits your property to see the space, the stairs and the windows.
- He reviews the projectand puts together a scope you can read line by line.
- He follows the buildand keeps you posted at each stage.
- He walks the finished basement with youline by line against your scope, before the job is closed.
You always know who to call, what’s next and what changed, if anything does.

FAQ
Basement questions homeowners ask.
How much does it cost to finish a basement?
It depends on what’s already there and what the room is for. Two basements the same size can need very different work before the finishes. That’s why we look at the space first, then give you a written scope.
My basement gets a little damp. Can it still be finished?
Often, yes, but that’s the first thing we look at, not the last. We check for signs of water before talking about drywall or flooring, and you’ll see in the scope what has to happen first.
Can the basement have a bedroom?
A bedroom needs a proper way out, usually an egress window, and has to meet the town’s code. We look at your windows and layout and tell you what it would take.
Who handles permits?
Permits are approved by the town. The scope says who files what, so there are no surprises later.
Do you only finish empty basements?
No. We also redo basements that were finished years ago and need an update, or that were only half done.
